Lapierre FDJ at Jablines CX
Last month, we were in Jablines to attend a CX race, and amongst all the bikes ready to get covered in mud and sweat, this carbon Lapierre caught our eye. At first glance, it could be any regular stock bike. But the crankset upgrade is a game-changing detail that’s worth paying attention to.
As you may know, front derailleurs and mud are by no means friends. That’s why many riders go for a single chainring groupset, or – this is the case – prefer to just take one crown off a regular 2×10 Shimano 105.
Just look how raw those chainguards look, and notice the funny black cap blocking the internal routing. The modification looks homemade as hell, but the result is a beautiful racing machine with an added value: the touch of its own rider.
